The next time Russell Brand walks past a homeless person, he'd better make sure his wallet is full to bursting.
Because the comedian has now set a precedent for his generosity after he handed over £400 to a man on the street.
According to reports, the funny man got chatting to the vagrant in Los Angeles while he was out with his new girlfriend.
He was believed to be still reeling from an incident a few days before when he reportedly threw a cameraman's iPhone through a New Orleans law firm’s window before handing himself into the police.
A source told the Daily Star that Brand was out with his new girlfriend Hungarian model Nikolett Barabas when they came across the man.
They said: 'Russ was feeling a bit bad about his behaviour. He hates causing anyone any grief and decided to do something charitable.
'He met a homeless guy on Hollywood Boulevard, just around the corner from the home he shared with Katy Perry. Russ was with his new girlfriend and they struck up a conversation with the guy.
Brand, 36, is then believed to have gone to a nearby cashpoint and withdrew $600 (£400) which he then gave to the man.
The source added: 'Russ told him to spend it wisely and to make sure he says "Hello" if they ever cross paths again.'
Russell has been in Los Angeles with Nikolett who he introduced to his  mother Barbara who has come to visit the star.

A few days ago, he was in New Orleans where he found himself in trouble again after he rented a pair of bikes - and never returned them.
The owner of the store in the French Quarter of the city said he hasn't seen them since, even though Brand's assistant said they would be returning them.
Greg from Greg’s Antiques told RadarOnline.com: ‘I’m not sure where my bikes are.’
